History: Three or four EARS members used to meet weekly for lunchtime drinks. Over time, this number grew to, perhaps, seven or eight. As is often the case in ham circles, the conversation would usually drift round to discussing CW operating. At one of these lunchtime sessions, Vic, G4YDN, exclaimed frustratedly, "I don't know why you lot don't call yourselves the 'CW Appreciation Society', as all you ever seem to talk about is CW!". Thus was born the CWAS.
Gatherings take place at different venues each week, starting at 12:00 noon local time every Wednesday. It is preceded by a net on 80m (see the 'Nets' link for details). The venue coordinator is Tony, M5CBR. Occasionally there is a need to change venues at short notice, so the day's venue will be confirmed on the CWAS net. Anyone is welcome to attend - it is not an 'official' club event as such - and you do not have to love CW!
The traditional 'rule' is that you buy your own first pint - after that, anything goes!
