Welcome to the Homepage of Amateur Radio Station K4OEY |
Hello from Alabama and thanks for dropping by.
I was first licensed in 1985 at the age of 16.
My first call was my novice call in 1985...KB4MUM I upgraded to
GENERAL class a few years later and my call changed to K9LTR.
Then in 2005 I changed my call to W4LDX . I got idea for the call
since I had been a DJ at a small radio station in Fayette, AL with the call
of WLDX. I then moved back to Utah and decided to get back in to HF I
decided once again to change my call to N7OEY. I got the idea for this call
because of my mother Janice Coe KB4OEY and i thought it would be neat to
have my last 3 letters be the same as her call. I then moved back to Alabama
and got very active on HF and the 7 land callsign just was not working out
being in 4 land so once again a callsign change to N4RDX. After almost a
year of mom wanting to know when I was going to a call with the OEY at the
end I finally give in and found a call that had never been issued and
changed for the last time to K4OEY and now mom is once again happy.

In days of old, when ops were bold
and sideband not invented, Long live CW. Anyone can talk on a microphone. Heck, I did it for a living! But it takes a few smarts to work CW. So, put down the mic and grab the key (bug, paddles, whatever you have) and make a CW QSO today. Remember...... CW Operators Do It By Hand !
West Alabama Amteur Radio Club Meeting will be August 10, 2017 at 7PM at the Lamar EOC in Vernon on County Road 9, The program will be QRP Portable Operation.
