HAMCO bought the key business from HAL in 1978, and was the first production company to use magnetic tensioning in their designs. The base consisted of a thick plate mounted on a wooden bottom section. Vibroplex eventually bought HAMCO, and used the design to produce the Brass Racer. The HAMCO design incorporated updates to original elements of the FYO approach to make keep all the parts from accidentally coming loose. Another HAMCO variation of the two paddles shown here was called the "Carson" and that version was hand-polished. All HAMCOs are considered scarce.
