HOME-MADE
PARABOLIC DISH
This
is a picture of my first and only venture into building
a 12' parabolic antenna. pictured from left to right
are me,my daughter charlotte (Her Idea to build it) and my brother Ron
(KB5UTW). To date, I have had it functional and recieving Satellite
TV (note this picture does not have the head attached to it) I bought the
C band electronics surplus for about 15-20 bucks. my first received broadcast
was Bobbie's World at like 2:00 in the morning.( the parabola was and is
still unadjusted for parabolic shape, maybe this fall I'll get around to
it.) Subsequent test always seemed to be at the same time and it seemed
as if I was on the Bobbies World channel (all Bobbies World all the
time!)
This
is a close up of the crude mount we devised for it. You can see the home-made
elevation motor hanging free down towards the bottom. I used a modified
black and decker screwdriver and homemade leadscrew as the drive assembly.(worked,
but not great)
