Hello everybody
Went to bed at 2130z. Signals were good on 23cm tonight. Worked 22 stations
with my 50 watts to the old 8m antenna. Called DL4MUP and VE6TA many times but
only QRZ. A couple of new initials were also worked.

Just quick note

Gunter VE7CLD and I completed an M/M QSO initial #3 and then I also had an
M/M QSO with AA6IW (initial #4.

Signals were very smeared here (except for Sergei (Heard with Lars).  My
local hour angle was -25 degrees at close.

Thank you all for a very fun weekend.  Too bad Al was not around to
enjoy......we must plan for next month after we have had time to squeeze
more out of our systemds

Subj:    [Moon-Net] Lots of 24GHz EME this weekend !

To:     [email protected]

[email protected] (Paul Drexler W2PED), [email protected] (Paul W2PED (work)),
[email protected] (Kent Britain)

On April18 and 20 Sergei RW3BP had his first QSOs on 24 GHz with Al W5LUA
(M/M) and Barry VE4MA (O/M). On Sunday April 21 Sergei worked AA6IW Lars for
initial #3, and a first 24 GHz EME QSO for Lars.   What is more remarkable
is that the moon was only at about 7.5 degree elevation for Sergei at the
end of this QSO. The atmosphere normally absorbs RF at low angles on 24 and
adds Rx noise from the temperature of the atmoshere. This is certainly a new
24 GHz distance record (KO85ws to CN87vi).  Lars observed a very much
narrower speading of RW3BP than VE4MA

Also today VE4MA worked VE7CLD(M/M) for a new initial #3 and a new country
#3 (a first 24 GHz EME QSO for Gunter ), and then AA6IW (M/M) for initial
#4.  The Libration "smearing" was bad for these QSOs as the moon was at a
local hour angle of -25 degrees.

Unfortunately Al W5LUA missed all the activity as he was in New Orleans.

Next month is sure to bring much activity and many new QSOs

All stations are running high power TWTs (>75 Watts) most courtesy of Paul

Hi Joe,

I suffered a lightning hit that took out a lot of my Ham and equipment.
The azimuth rotor is dead along with my FT-736R and tracking computer.
It appears that my power amp was unharmed. I had good grounds and surge
protection on the antenna system, it appears to have come in on the
phone lines. Bell box was in sad shape.
I am in the process of getting things fixed, so I hope not to be down
for long. I will let you know when I will be ready again for EME skeds.
How things smell, I may be getting some new radio equipment.

Thank & 73,
Cowles, K4EME, 432 EME

Dear Danial and Peter,

I have investigated the cost of sending a bank transfer for the EME
Conference registration.  The bank will charge about $US50 for this
transaction.  This cost is not dependent on the amount of the cash
transferred.  As this fee is a significant percentage of the
registration fee, I propose that other NA stations attending the
conference send a check to me for the amount of their registration.  I
will lump all these funds together and send one money transfer at my
expense.

I suggest you pass this information on to other NA stations planning to
attend.  I also suggest you set a final date for sending me the checks.
I will then get the back transfer to you promptly.

What do you think?

Hi Joe,
I checked into the net but i lost you in the QSB.
My information is that I worked DK3BU, VK4AFL and DL8OBU for initials. DK3BU has been
worked in JT44 mode which seems to be very well as I couldn´t hear a sign from him but
the program decoded fine. we completed in 13 minutes. I will be in Prague and hope
to meet a lot of the EME community.
