Fleming, Philip "Skip" Bernard 12/9/1932 - 2/18/2021 Philip B. Fleming passed away February 18, 2021 in Beavercreek Ohio. Known to many as Skip, Phil, was born on December 9, 1932 to James (Jay) and Bernadine (Betty) Fleming in Jackson, Michigan. He was a proud graduate of St. John's High School, class of 1950. After graduating from Jackson Community College, he went on to receive his nursing degree from Foote Memorial School of Nursing. From there, he attended Mt. Carmel Mercy College where he graduated with his CRNA. Always wanting to continue to learn, he added another degree from Ottawa University. Phil also served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He met the love of his life, Pat, while working at Mercy Hospital in Detroit. They were married on May 24, 1957. They were married for 54 years until Pat passed away in 2011. They lived in Jackson for the first few years of their married life eventually moving to Hillsdale to raise their five children. Phil worked at Hillsdale Community Health Center for 25 years. Phil was very active in the community being a member of St. Anthony's parish where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Believing in service he was a proud member of the Kiwanis Club, a board member for Salvation Army, and the Hillsdale County Department of Social Services. His love of singing led him to Sauk Theater where he was Lazar Wolf in Fiddler on the Roof. He loved Hillsdale and all that it had to offer. Phil was proud of the time he spent with the Christian Medical Society doing anesthesia in the remote villages found in the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Honduras. Phil and Pat became involved with Retroville and helped many other couples navigate difficult times. Their dedication and hard work to their marriage vows was a gift to many. Upon retirement Phil and Pat moved to Sun City, Florida but never lost their love for Hillsdale. He is survived by his five children. Kathleen Fleming, Elsie Mi., Jean (Gary) George, Philip (Sheila), Osceola In., Julie (Bob) Denton, Vacaville, Ca and Stephanie (Victor) Martinez, 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, with another on the way. His brother Thomas Fleming of Jackson, Mi., sister-in-law Alice Fleming of Naples, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his wife, Patricia, parents Jay and Betty Fleming, brother, James Fleming, infant sister Theresa Fleming and granddaughter, Christine Martinez. We know that they have welcomed him home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at a future date. Dad you were and are much more than a date of birth and a date of death. Your life was filled with love, laughter, service to others, a strong work ethic but most importantly, your faith. Well done good and faithful servant.
