Don Chinnery WU9T (SK)

Donald G. Chinnery, 90, of Marinette passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020, at Bay Area Medical Center.

He was born on March 21, 1929, in Ludington, Mich. to Alfred and Alice (Fitch) Chinnery.

 

Don grew up and attended school in Ludington, Mich.

After graduating from Michigan Tech, he began his career as a Chemical Engineer in Marquette Mich.

 

Don enjoyed strategy gaming, amateur radio, and also RVing and camping.

 

Don is survived by his son, Dan Chinnery; a granddaughter, Jessica Chinnery; a sister, Lucille Rogers; and girlfriend Rosalie Gates.

 

Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2020.

Don became a Novice Amateur Radio operator in 1962, upgrading to Extra in 1990.

Don was founder of the Club Newsletter and website, donated most of the TNCs
and equipment for the hospital go-kit, and was named “Amateur of the Year” in 2008.
Don also served with the Katrina ham radio team at Kiln, MS in 2005
