California QSO Party

CA stations work everyone and send serial # and county. Mults are the 50 states plus 8 VE provinces.

Mobiles: Change your sent county in the logger when you log QSOs in a different county. You can do this without exiting the logger.

States and Provinces are 2 characters only. Entering an exchange >2 characters, GenLog assumes it is a California county and skips the multiplier check function. DX QSOs are identified as `DX` in the log so DXCC countries are not counted as multipliers.

To have GenLog count California as a multiplier:
Since counties are not counted - when you work your own state, you can edit the log file in NOTEPAD like below - so the SW counts your state mult. Or - just let the contest sponsor count your state.

This is an example log with QSO #2 (a California station - county not a multiplier).
40m   CW  05/29/07  0300  W3KM 1 LAX 023   PA 1 3
40m   CW  05/29/07  0306  W6XYZ 2 LAX 055   ORAN  3
40m   PH 05/29/07  0307  W5LUA 3 LAX 002   TX 2 2

Add /C to the exchange of the first California QSO. Then edit the # new mults.
40m   CW  05/29/07  0300  W3KM 1 LAX 023   PA 1 3
40m   CW  05/29/07  0306  W6XYZ 2 LAX 055   ORAN/C  2 3
40m   PH 05/29/07  0307  W5LUA 3 LAX 002   TX 3 2

It is easiest to do the editing as early as possible, after this the logger will correctly count and number the new multipliers. Keep all the columns as they were, with spaces not <Tabs> between fields. Remove the /C in the Cabrillo log before submission. The contest sponsor will count your state.

Others work CA stations only and send serial number and state/province/DXCC. Multipliers are the 58 CA counties.

Pts. CW = 3   PH = 2. Work stations on both modes. You can work mobiles and stations on county lines more than once, in different counties - enter a separate QSO for each county exchanged. Check the county list for abbreviations.

Score = QSO points  X  mults.

Log submission:
Your Cabrillo logfile will be named [urCall.cbr] as requested by the contest sponsor. The Cabrillo file is normally named {urCall.log}, so be careful which file you submit, since {urCall.log} may exist in your logging folder from a previous contest.

Also, edit the header portion of the file as necessary. See the CAQP Cabrillo requirements and log submission information on their web site and make corrections to your QTH, category etc.

QTH: CA = county   non-CA = state or country
CATEGORY: please edit this line to include:
S/O  M/S   M/M (choice)    SINGLE-OP etc. spelled out is OK.
HP  LP  QRP  (choice)
Mobile
