Homebrew Dual band Satellite Antenna
Dual band Satellite antenna based on info obtained from Kent, WA5VJB
This antenna, along with either an Icom IC-W31A or a Yaesu FT-8800 running
17 watts max
has enabled me to work 431 Grids so far, and obtain ARRL
Satellite WAS award #332.
Another enjoyable activity available to Satellite Ops is that of working the Sats from a portable location.
Many Grid Squares have few or
even no permanent Satellite Ops and the only way to obtain a
confirmation
from
one of those may depend upon a portable station. ** The photo above is of
a campsite located on the
DM63/DM64 gridline in NM where I spent a couple of days operating from
two rare grid squares. The
antenna is an Arrow mounted on a photo tripod and the antenna
next to my tent is a wire vertical. So far,
I have operated portable from 43 grid squares.
