Abandoned highways and bridges of Texas

Abandoned State Highway 71 just north of Interstate 10 near Columbus

This is actually a small segment of crossover road that was left abandoned when the State Highway 71 bypass was widened from a two-lane road to a four-lane divided. There is talk of upgrading 71 to an Interstate from here to Austin, but it would be a long, long way off until construction if it does take place.
