Abandoned highways and bridges of Texas

FM 1093 at the Brazos River

This is one where I played a hunch that there was an old highway due to a map that showed an "old FM 1093." And I also was suspect of the pilings in the water. Unfortunately, I lost the photos that I took. After all, I have taken hundreds of photos and it was only possible that I lost some of them. Fortunately, google maps came to my rescue and you can see the pilings in this photo. And yes, they are part of an abandoned bridge. An aerial map from 1953 shows that FM 1093 definitely was routed on a bridge on that  was on the opposite side of the railroad bridge. The first photo shows FM 1093 today. The second, in 1953.
