At the San Jacinto River - on FM 2854 - is the skeleton of a much
earlier bridge. The deck is gone, but one can see just how narrow the
early roads were comparing the old structure to the newer bridge. This
location is not far from Lake Conroe, built in the late 60s and early
70s. Notice the flood gauge pole next to the old bridge and also notice
how much higher the new bridge is than the decking area of the old one.
The bottom photo is zoomed in.
