West Gulf Bank Road - An Abandoned Project

West Gulf Bank Road at U.S. 290:

All that remains of West Gulf Bank Road at U.S. 290 is this abandoned traffic light structure. Had Gulf Bank been built, this pole would have had a complete array of traffic lights. Proposed Gulf Bank was on the maps for many years. However, it was extremely controversial and in the end, the people won out. West Gulf Bank would have connected here in Jersey Village, with FM 529 connecting on the other side. At one time, Gulf Bank was even proposed as a four lane divided State Project. Now, it will never be built and bits and pieces of Gulf Bank will live on as stubs and dead ends. If anyone has more information about this abandoned street, please e-mail the webmaster.
