Mangum Road

Mangum Road, near West 43rd and Acorn Street:

At one time, Mangum Road must have crossed the railroad track at an awkward angle or maybe it was built before the railroad track. In any case, by looking at the photos, you can see how the abanoned section lines up with the existing road. The old asphalt is extremely cracked from the many years of Houston heat. This abandoned section must date from the 1950s or possibly earlier. If anyone has more information about this abandoned street, please e-mail the webmaster.
