Abandoned streets and roads of Houston & Harris County

North Houston-Rosslyn Road (north abandoned section)

North Houston-Rosslyn Road, at Vogel Creek:

When North Houston-Rosslyn was widened to four lane divided in the late 80s and early 90s, two sections were abandoned when the road was straightened. This is the northern abandoned section, just south of SH 249. Much of the old road's asphalt was left in place, even all the way to the edge of Vogel Creek. You can see the old wooden bridge supports down in the creek. I also saw things people had chunked into the creek, but I did see some minnows. The newer part of North Houston-Rosslyn was one of those boulevards built one side at a time - so that's why the plaque below is only for one of the two bridges.
