North Houston-Rosslyn Road, at Vogel Creek:
When North Houston-Rosslyn was
widened to four lane divided in the late 80s and early 90s, two
sections were abandoned when the road was straightened. This is the
northern abandoned section, just south of SH 249. Much of the old
road's asphalt was left in place, even all the way to the edge of Vogel
Creek. You can see the old wooden bridge supports down in the creek. I
also saw things people had chunked into the creek, but I did see some
minnows. The newer part of North Houston-Rosslyn was one of those
boulevards built one side at a time - so that's why the plaque below is
only for one of the two bridges.
