Abandoned streets and roads of Houston & Harris County

Rosslyn Road

Rosslyn Road, near Pinemont:

Many years ago Rosslyn was slated to a be a major thoroughfare throughout most of northwest Houston. Several pieces remain, but it is doubtful that this project will ever take place. In fact, it probably won't because Rosslyn now feeds into a closed subdivision on the south side of a creek/ditch near Pinemont, while the north side now has an iron gate and grassy area where the road used to be. This new subdivision and Rosslyn itself has always been a very controversial situation, particluarly where a two-lane bridge now exists where a pair of two lane bridges were supposed to go. Before there was the grassy area and gate, Rosslyn was basically a worn out dirt road/path leading up to an old barricade.
