Abandoned State Highway 36 near Gatesville

This is the case where the highway once ran straight through a town and then a new segment of highway was built to bypass the town. For a while the old segment continued as "Business 36," but soon the traffic was minimal as most people were using the bypass. The old section is used for testing paint as can be seen in these photos. Once a busy highway through Gatesville, this section is now cut off and quietly remains in place.
