CERT Exercise - Operation High Waters
Heavy spring rains fell on the Denver metropolitan area in early June. The ground quickly became saturated with water, creating flood conditions. Small creeks exceeded their capacity and spilled over their banks. Even larger drainage channels were pushed to the limit, creating a concern that flash flooding was no longer a possibility but a reality of the existing conditions.
On June 9, 2007 a flash flood alert along the foothills resulted in activation of CERT in Jefferson County, where creek levels started requiring evacuation of residents in low lying areas.
