The meeting was called to
plan for Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) this weekend, Oct 16 & 17; Pumpkin Patrol
for Oct 30 & 31; our Application for the emergency communications trailer.
Jamboree on the Air is an
opportunity for Scouts and Cubs to meet via Ham Radio.
The First Dryden Troup will be joining us at the Emergency Communications
Centre. Bob VE3YDN, expects there
will be 10-12 cubs and scouts, plus the leaders, and some parents.
Last year, we had met in the afternoon, and did not have much success
contacting other JOTA stations, so we are planning to meet 1900-2100 hours, and
hopefully band conditions will allow us to contact more stations.
A duty roster for Saturday and Sunday was set up.
The club will be
assisting with Pumpkin Patrol again this year—Gate Night is Oct 30 & Halloween
is Oct 31. We will provide coverage
from 1800 to 2100 on Gate Night and 1730 to 2000 on Halloween.
A duty roster for both evenings was set up.
Bryan, VA3BRY, reported
on his conversation with his Trillium contact.
Our application was turned down because there were lots of applications
that the Foundation felt were of greater importance.
Another reason was that we were only able to find one supplier of the
aluminum crank-up antenna tower we had chosen.
(Trillium had asked us to supply 2 quotes.)
Scott, VA3EXT, was able to find a supplier of a similar tower.
M.S. Ken, VE3VGM; Bob,
VE3YDN—the club order 500 3.5 x 3 inch ARSD decals from Boreal Signs at $1.50
each. Carried.
Hopefully, these will be
available at the Club’s Christmas Dinner, Dec. 8th.
Bob, VA3GUN, moved the
meeting adjourn.
