VHF FM ACTIVITY DAY:
SUNDAY, JUNE 15, 2025
Activate at any time. Focus on Noon to 4 PM.
VHF Activity Days are designed to encourage a broad base of
licensees to power-up their VHF FM home radio, handi-talkie, or mobile,
and engage in brief contacts with others on non-repeater (also known as
SIMPLEX) frequencies. Program them now!
52.525-MHz * 146.49, 52, .55, .58-MHz * 223.50-MHz * 446.00-MHz
Parks-on-the-Air! * Summits-on-the-Air * ARRL June VHF Contest
While any frequency can be used, it is suggested that POTA and SOTA
activators focus on 146.49- and/or 146.52-MHz and VHF Contesters
focus on 146.55- and/or 146.58-MHz. HOWEVER…it’s just fine if
anyone operates on any of these frequencies.
POTA and SOTA activators, plan now for a fun time on Sunday, June 15th!
VHF Contesters, prepare now for an influx of new stations during what is
traditionally the “slowest part of the
June VHF Contest”. What a great opportunity to experience the
fun of VHF as part of one, big, on-the-air festivity!
Once you make contact on 2 meters, QSY to another band and make another
contact with the same station! There is no requirement to log anything if you
don’t want to.
Make contact with each other, too; not just with POTA, SOTA, and Contesters.
Home stations with outside antennas will have an advantage, however if
your VHF station is in your car then drive to a high point. The
same goes if all you have in an HT. High points (including parking garages,
by the way) will give better range; but even if you don’t have one,
give it a go anyway.
Get ready now. Put up that antenna or scout out that hill. Become familiar
with your Grid Square because others will be interested in exchanging it with
you. Visit the following URL (https://dxcluster.ha8tks.hu/hamgeocoding/)
and type in your address in the “Locality” field. It will return
your grid. Only the first 4 characters are needed, but exchange all six if
you are so inclined.
If you setup and don’t hear anyone, give a call yourself. Something as
simple as “CQ Activity Day” followed by your call sign
may result in several contacts.
Whatever
you do… Just. Have. Fun...
