Low Phase Noise Frequency Doubler

 

 

 

It is often necessary to multiply the frequency of low noise oscillators without significantly degrading the phase noise beyond the theoretical 20 log (N). A low phase noise frequency doubler is designed according to [1]-[2]. IN60PW is adopted in this work. Following is the schematic and PCB (with FT50-43 or NXO-100).

 

 

 

 

 

 

A 10M OCXO (5300-0000-053) is adopted to verify the phase noise of the doubler. Following is the test setup and results obtained by using the PN2060. It is shown that nearly 6dB difference between them which is approach to the theoretical result.
