I needed to connect one RCA digital SPDIF output to a TOSLINK optical input.
As many times, a simple device with that functionality was again much more expensive
that what I believed reasonable. I found some circuits on the net and I
adapted those designs to my needs. I finally came up to this circuit:
Since it was very simple and I only needed one, I didnīt design a PCB. I built it
on a project board with the following layout:

Although it does not meet the standard in terms of impedances and isolation, it does the job, and has worked with every device Iīve connected to it for more than two years now.
