UK - AMATEUR RADIO EXAMS
On
this site you will find lessons and revision questions for the
Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced exams which are required to
operate amateur radio equipment in the United Kingdom.
It
is suggested that you work through a lesson and then try the multiple
choice questions. If yo can achieve 80% on a quiz, then move on to the
next lesson. The quizzes provided feedback on incorrect answers.
The
learning objectives for each lesson are taken directly from the
examination syllabus. People learn in different ways and the time
taken to reach a level of knowledge that will enable you to pass the
exams will depend on pre-existing knowledge. It would be useful to make
notes on each topic in a notebook or loose leaf folder. There are
a lot of sources of information adn you are encouraged to read these
and add to your notes. You will also learn a lot by listening to other
amateurs on the lower frequency bands. Every few lessons it will help
your memory
to go back over previous lessons to check that you haven't forgotten
anything!
You will need to find out if your local radio club offer exams. They
will arrange for you to enter the exams, for which there is a fee, and
assess the sections which require you to demonstrate practical skills.
To familiarise yourself with the mathematical formulae required at
each level there is a page showing all these formulae with a
description of their use and a link to lessons showing examples of how
the formulae are used.
