Raspberry pi4/5 as a replacement desktop computer ?
Can a raspberry pi4/5 with 4 or 8 g/byte of ram be used as a desktop replacement computer to run all the usual ham radio packages ?
In my opinion it comes pretty close - make sure you put it in a case with a fan
You can also change the boot order in raspi-config and your pi will be able to boot directly from a USB hard drive. It may need powering from a powered USB hub.
I run 64 bit Bookworm and the below programs work OK
Some packages may be installed via the Raspberry pi 'Add/Remove software function'
There are several other operating systems that will also run on your raspberry pi
Some programs are installed via ‘snap’

possible - but unlikely
Install clamscan - set it to automatically scan your raspberry and forget about it - new virus definitions are automatically downloaded and a log of events is kept
Make sure you install clamtk ( to give you a GUI )
sudo apt-get install clamav && sudo apt-get install clamtk
Un zipping files sudo snap install p7zip-desktop
