Ben Rinnes - Morayshire
Height 840m/2755feet - Length 4 miles app

Start this lovely walk at the Ben Rinnes Distillery at the foot of the hill. Park your car to the rear of the buildings and take the landrover track at the top of the car park towards the NW shoulder of Ben Rinnes. Its a reasonably gentle slope uphill, with steeper patches - though when I did it, I had a hangover and had only had 4 hours sleep, so it seemed a lot steeper and until I got my 'second wind', I was struggling. Follow the path up until you reach peat workings, there you will (maybe) see a path on your left winding its way up towards the 'tor' like crags to the NW of the summit. Its quite wet, the weather was dry and very warm when we did it, but gaiters/waterproof trousers were still required. The hill is basically a peat bog and even the paths are sodden until you get up on top. There is an amazing variety of flora and fauna on the hill inc vast patches of Cloudberries everywhere you look.

From the tors follow the winding path along the ridge and follow it directly to the summit. The trig point is on top of yet more rock with a steep drop off the north side. The views are great - Corryhabbie to the east, the Convals and the Cairngorms. To return simply follow the path back the way you came or alternatively, drop down the SE shoulder and follow the track back NW along the base of the hill towards the car park.

The tors are quite amazing, both aesthetically and geologically. Ben Rinnes is actually a remote 'out crop' of the Cairngorm Range.
