'Vaughan Henderson' vaughanh@vodafone.co.nz [ZLHAMS] Jun 15 at 6:09 PM To ZLHAMS@yahoogroups.com Hi David, Strictly speaking the 50 – 51 MHz segment of the 6m band is not “ours” until the management right under which the Channel 1 TV transmitters operated expires which is in August 2015. To allow amateur use of this part of the band, Radio Spectrum Management have put in place Licence number 4122 which says that “Persons who hold a New Zealand General Amateur Operator’s Certificate of Competency and a callsign issued pursuant to the Radiocommunications Regulations 2001 may operate an amateur radio station under this licence”. The power on the licence is 30 dBW (1 kW) to bring it into line with the power on the General User Radio Licence for Amateur Operators. When Management Right 47 expires on the 30 August 2015, 50/51 MHz will be added to the General User Radio Licence for Amateur Operators. I expect an update of the official documentation at that time. For now, for all practical purposes, the band 50–51 MHz is part of the New Zealand 6m amateur band. 73 Vaughan ZL1VH From: ZLHAMS@yahoogroups.com [mailto:ZLHAMS@yahoogroups.com] Sent: Sunday, 15 June 2014 2:34 p.m. To: ZLHAMS reflector Subject: [ZLHAMS] 50-51 MHz query Hi all, Where are we up to with the 50-51 MHz segment of the 6m band? Currently the regs say the special permit is required. Just working on the explanations in HamDisk and want to clarify things. 73, David ZL3AI. __._,_.___ Posted by: "Vaughan Henderson" __________________________________________________________________ Visit the ZLHAMS Wiki at http://ZLHAMS.wikidot.com for information about ham radio in New Zealand.
