Il 5 dicembre 1492 Critoforo Colombo scoprì l’isole Hispaniola, fondò con il nome di “La Navidad” il primo centro abitato e colonia del Nuovo Mondo e si stabilì con la nomina di vicere nel luogo che è oggi la capitale Santo Domingo. Mei secoli successivi I pirati resero quasi impossibile ogni attività d’esportazione di Hispaniola. Immigrati francesi, che si stabilirono ad ovest dell’isola, riuscirono alla fine a scacciare i pirati. Con Haiti nacque così la prima repubblica indipendente di gente di colore. Nel 1844 I coloni spagnoli ad est dell’isola dichiararono la loro indipendenza dalla madrepatria e fondarono la Repubblica Dominicana. I dominicani sono un popolo molto ospitale, aperto e allegro che sarebbe sicuramente fuoriluogo in un paese dove la temperatura è quasi costantemente estiva. I turisti vengono attirati dalla sua costa lunga quasi 1.600km con le sue spiagge meravigliose all’ombra delle palme e le sue baie solitarie, ma anche dalle montagne co la loro flora e fauna particolare - una grande varietà di specie esotiche.

El 5 de diciembre de 1492 Cristóbal Colón descubrió la ista de La Española, fundó “La Navidad”, el primer asentamiento y colonia del nuevo mundo. Se instaló como virrey en el lugar que hoy ocupa la capital Santo Domingo. En los siglos posteriores, los piratas llegaron casi a paralizar la actividad exportadora de la Española. Los inmigrantes franceses que se asentaron en el oeste de la isla consiguieron auyentar definitivamente a los piratas. Así Haití se convirtió en la primera república negra independiente del mundo. En 1844 los colonos españoles de esta isla se declararon independientes de la madre patria y fundaron la Republica Dominicana. Los Dominicanos son un pueblo muy hospitalario, abierto y pacífico que no conoce ni la urgencia ni la prisa, cualidades éstas que en un país con temperaturas vacacionales casi constante, estarían fuera de lugar. Junto a los casi 1600kms. de costa de magníficas playas de palmeras y bahías solitarias, seducen también sus montes con su flora y fauna singulares, una derrochadora riqueza de especies de exótica exuberancia.

On December 5th 1492 Christopher Columbus discovered the island of Hispaniola, founded “La Navidad”, the first European settlement in the New World, and, after having become Viceroy of Hispaniola, settled down in the place where today’s capital Santo Domingo is situated. During the following centuries, innuberable raids by pirates gradually brought the export trade to a standstill. French colonialists who settled down in the West of the island managed to drive off the pirates finally. Thus the first independent black republic of the world was founded: République d’Haiti. 1844 the former Spanish settlers declared themselves independent of spain and founded the Dominican Republic. The Dominicans are a very hospitable, openminded and peace-loving people. Hecticpace and stress are unknown to them - quite understandable, as they are blessed with a country which enjoys almost costant holiday temperatures! thus the traveller is welcome to enjoy the beauty of the almost 1600km (979miles) of coast with its marvellous palm beaches and snug bays or to scout the mountains with their lavish profusion of and fauna.

Dezember 1492 entdeckte Chistoph Kolumbus die Insel Hispaniola, begründete mit “La Navidad” die erste Siedlung und Kolonie der Neuen Welt und ließ sich am Ort der heutigen Hauptstadt Santo domingo als Vizekönig nieder. In den folgenden Jahrhunderten brachten Piraten den Export von Hispaniola nahezu zum Stillstand. Französische Einwannder, die sich im Westen der insel niederließen, konnten die Piraten schließlich vertreiben. So entstand mit Haiti dieerste unabhängige schawarze Republik der Welt. 1844 erklärtendie spanischen siedler im Osten ihre Unabhängigkeit vom Mutterland und gründenten die Dominikanische Republik. Die Dominkaner sind ein sehr gastfreundliches, offenherziges und friedliches Volk, das Eile und Hast nicht kennt - Eigenshaften, die in eniem Land von nahezu konstanter Urlaubstermperatur auch fehl am Platz wären. Neben der fast 1600km langen Küster mit ihrer einzigartigen Flora und Fauna - ein verschwenderischer Artenreichtum van exotischer Fülle.
