Rear fender LED reflector 2012 - 2017 GL1800

The rectangular reflector on the rear fender of the GL1800 is a easy and inexpensive LED modification. Active reflectors are available on Ebay for less than $10 for two! Search "Red 24 LED reflector Tail Lights Brake Stop Marker Lamp ATV Car Truck Trailer" and you will find them. Mine have three wires. Red, Green and Black make up the "brake", "Run" and ground connections. The light flashes with the other brake lights when activated.

Two extra wires were added to the license plate lamp power and ground wires and terminated with female bullet connectors. When I added a connector to the Big Bike Parts extra brake wires, I added two extra pigtail wires with female bullets. Those mods gave me the three connections I needed; Run, Ground and Brake.

The LED reflector wires were terminated with male bullet connectors to allow removal for service when needed.

The reflectors pictured here have the wires exiting the back shell close to the locking "pin". The existing hole would simply be made larger. That was not the case with the ones that I purchased. The wires were on the opposite side of the bolt! Drill accordingly. It's all covered by the reflector anyway.

Closeup of the connections. The bullets are just above the bolts.
The wires from the reflector pass through the fender just below the phillips screw at the center bottom area of the above picture. Another hole was made to allow the wires to pass through to where the license plate bulb wires are located. The long red wire is for the brake connection.
