Several adult leaders offered campers the opportunity
to earn merit badges in the campsite during free periods. Bill Henderson,
amateur radio operator K0VBU, offered Radio merit badge. The class
of seven Scouts met daily after lunch for 45 minutes, and then took
turns operating the radio station during free times. The Scouts contacted
other amateur radio operators throughout the United States, as well
as in many other countries, including Japan, Russia, Germany, Bosnia-Herzegovina
and others. All seven Scouts completed the merit badge before leaving
camp.
