built this Copper Cactus antenna a few years ago and it works great. I used brass screws and nuts on the copper caps and shortened the antenna and the stub a little in order to have a little adjustment with the brass screws. On each side of the PVC coupler, after soldering on the 1/2" male iron pipe adapters, I drilled a hole in each adapter and tapped the hole to 1/4" male iron pipe threads. I then screwed in a 1/4" mip to 1/4" OD compression adapter in each 1/2" adapter. I screwed the riser pipe together with the PVC coupling after everything cooled down. Then the coil could connect across the coupler. |
