HARA'S Amateur Radio Licensing Testing Procedure By Greg, KI8AF 1. Get an FRN An FRN (FCC Registration Number) from the FCC is REQUIRED. If you already have an Amateur Radio license, your FRN will appear on your license. You can register and receive your FRN directly from the FCC - Click on the following link and click on the REGISTER button - https://apps.fcc.gov/coresWeb/. Click on this link for help obtaining a FRN https://apps.fcc.gov/cores/html/Register_New_FRN.htm 2. Registration: Preregistration is REQUIRED. Go to https://ham.study/sessions to register for one of our upcoming exam sessions. After successfully registering online, you should receive an email with your registration information, including your exam PIN. Please bring your PIN to the exam session. You need to preregister at least by the Wednesday prior to our scheduled test session in order to test with HARA's VE testing team. 3. What to Bring to our Exam Session: * $15.00 - CASH (bring exact payment as change might no be available), CHECKS are accepted. Youth examinees under age 18 the fee is $5.00 for your initial license. * Your exam PIN - SEE ABOVE * Current copy of your Amateur Radio License (if licensed) * A Government Issued Photo ID - Driver's license, Passport, etc. * Minors without a Photo ID must bring another form of proper identification. * Cellphone to confirm receipt of CSCE once you pass exam(s). 4. FCC Application Fee $35.00 - Billed and payable directly to the FCC. This fee is in addition to the Exam Fee. You should receive an email directly from the FCC so watch for an email from them.
