Plant City, Florida is located in
eastern Hillsborough County between Tampa & Lakeland and 13 miles south
of Zepherhills. All are in the belt (75 miles wide) running across
the Florida peninsula on a line from NewPort Richey to Jacksonville, of
extremely heavy lightning storms, second only to the peninsula of India.
We KNOW lightning and it is swift and merciless! But we don't have earth
quakes or rampant fires or avalanches or floods . . . So we live here with
lightning until it kills us or something else kills us. We like the
weather, where snow is a novelty, last seen in 1997, that we talk about
when there is nothing better to talk about. Oh don't get me wrong,
it does get COLD hereabouts, it got down to 21 once and it has gotten down
to 28 a couple of times since! We are thinking about changing our
state bird from the Mocking Bird, a drab gray bird to the NOSEEUM.
A more frequently seen bird is the Red Winged Black Bird a black bird with
orange/red splashes where his inboard engines would be (if he had 4 engines)
to the NOSEEUM. An invisible creature that likes to bite or sting
one when one doesn't expect it (outdoors), usually on the arm, thought
to be a MICRO sized wasp with a MAXI sized attitude!
