QSL Cards
My uncle had a collection of QSL cards. He was most proud of one from King Hussein of Jordan, JY1. Back in those days QSL cards were fairly expensive to print, but very cheap to send. Today QSL cards are quite inexpensive to print, but fairly expensive to send.
As a result they seem to be falling out of favor. I have not gotten involved with QSL cards yet. I have only connected with the local repeaters and no one uses QSL cards on repeaters. But I hope to start working CW on HF soon. When I do I will need to deal with QSL cards.
My impression is that I should design a QSL card and get some printed. If someone sends me a QSL card common courtesy will require that I send one in return, so I must be ready.
It looks like most QSL card are handled by internet services like eQSL, QRZ and Logbook of the World. I am in the process of learning how to use them and will update this page when I have done so.
I have a few questions:
- I live in a basement condo and expect most of my operating to be from the field, as I cannot set up an effective indoor or outdoor antenna. If I am operating from a location other than my home I expect that should be indicated in my QSL, but how?
