The Trio of Awards

The Contacts Award - The Museums Award - The SWL Award

IMW Award Preview

Please note:- the design of the three awards will be basically similar, differing only in colour and the text inscribed upon the award.

When placing your order, please do make it perfectly clear....

1. Which award(s) you are applying for.

2. The name/callsign (your own or your clubs) to be inscribed on each award and in the case of the Museums Award, is the award to be made out to the museum rather than you or your club?.

3. Mark up the relevant entries in your log with the museum registration number of each contact and ensure each entry is a valid registered museum station, in the 'Museums List'. Only those museums which took the trouble to register, are considered to be valid contact entries. Please check carefully for and remove any duplicated contact entries and indicate the total number of contacts you are claiming.

My preferred format for the log is with just the essential claimed museum entries, with each museums registration number marked on the left and sorted in registration number order (see sample below).

4. Write your name and address clearly on your application.

5. Ensure you include a cheque for the correct amount, usually this will be either (UKP) 3.00 or (UKP) 5.50 drawn on a UK bank, any extra will be contributed to the charity. Those outside the EU, please see below.

Return postage of your award(s) only have been allowed for, so no need to send an SAE unless you require a reply on some other matter concerning the awards.

The Contacts Award: A decorative award will be available for issue to all stations (both registered museums and others) able to provide proof of 15 or more contacts with registered museum stations (see the 'Museums List' page). Send copies of your relevant log entries plus payment.

The SWL Award: A decorative award will be available for issue to SWL's able to provide a copy of their log containing 15 or more registered museum stations (see the 'Museums List' page). Send copies of your relevant log entries plus payment.

The Museums Award: A second (and I am sure well deserved) decorative award will be available for registered museum stations which have taken some active part in the event, no matter how small their contribution to the event has proven to be . This is by way of being a big 'thank you for taking part', and for your hard work. You should expect to provide some proof you have taken an active part, on one or both days of the IMW2002. A note of confirmation from the museums curator, a list of contacted stations, or some other reasonable proof will be perfectly adequate. You might consider presenting this award to the curator of the museum, or keep it for your club, the choice is yours. Do please make it clear in your application, whether this award is for presentation to you, or the museum at which you took part. Send payment plus some reasonable proof.

For those in the UK or EU payment is three pounds (3) for a single award, or five pounds fifty pence (5.50) for two, if ordered at the same time. The amount MUST be in pounds Stirling in either cheque form or UK post office money order.

For those outside the EU, please send either cash in the form of a UK bank note (the risk is yours) or a cheque, but the amount MUST be in pounds Stirling. 5 for one award, or 10 for two.

Any payments additional to these basic amounts will go in full to the charity, as will the surplus once the expense of production and despatch has been paid for.  Cheques and postal orders should be crossed and made payable to "Museums Radio Event" and addressed to me - H. Bloomfield M1BYT (AWARDS) , 49 Oak Crescent, Garforth, Leeds LS25 1PW, United Kingdom. (my details are also in RSGB and Buckmaster callbook).

The initial design for all three awards is progressing well (thanks Ian GW1MVL), they promise to be both a colourful and visually interesting additions to your shack wall. Your Awards Manager for this year will be Nigel Thrower G3YSW, who has kindly agreed to handle the printing and posting of the awards.

The Charity: The surplus after production and despatch costs of the Awards will be donated to the Ragged School Museum, close to the Mile End Stadium, in East London (Reg. Charity 800538). http://www.raggedschoolmuseum.org.uk/index.html
