How to adjust your EchoLink Audio levels in Windows 10 | |

So this tutorial is going to show you how to adjust your EchoLink audio within the Windows 10 operating system. So the first thing you want to do is have EchoLink running before you start and connected to the EchoLink Test Server. Also make sure that you have the current version of EchoLink, which at the time this tutorial was written is 2.1.109, which can be found at the EchoLink Download Page. So from this point forward I'm going to assume that you have EchoLink running & pereferably connected to the EchoLink Test Server. So now that you have Echolink running it should look like one of the following images. I will be using the image on the right for the rest of this tutorial. At any time you can click on any of these images to see a bigger view of each image. Steps 1 through 9 will discuss the EchoLink software and Steps 10 through 20 will discuss the Windows 10 settings so if you already have EchoLink working correctly just skip to Step 10. Onward to step two of this process. |

Step TwoWhich to connect to the EchoLink Test Server. We need to do this by looking at the upper left of EchoLink interface window for the "Station" menu, that I have marked with a red box around it as in image #3. Which will open a dialog box, as in the next image #4. |

Step FourSo now we need to select "Connect to Test Server". This will connect you to the Test Server and you will hear a Welcome message from the server. |

Step FiveAfter getting successfully connected to the Test Server we want to make sure that we have the correct devices selected both for your speakers and microphone. We do this by first going to the EchoLink setup by single left clicking on the Setup icon on the Toolbar or by hit the Alt + E keys on your keyboard. Then the Setup dialog will appear as in image #9. |

Step EightNow we need to make sure we have the correct input and output device selected. In my case these are already set correctly as "Microphone (Yeti Stereo Microphone)" and "Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)". For each input and output select your correct devices as illistrated below #13 and #14. You might have several devices listed in each pulldown down menu as I do so be careful on making sure you select the proper device that you need to use. |

Step TenNow we are ready to configure the Windows 10 settings! So now we need to get into the Sound Setting, and there is three ways to get there. I will going over the two easiest first, then I will explain the third, which requires a small download. The first one we will look at envolves the Search Bar in the Task bar on Windows 10, as in image #16. If you do not have the Search Bar you might have the Search Icon as in image #17. |

Step TwentyOnce you click the Levels Tab it should look like this. Do not use my setting that I have here this may not be correct with your setup. So now take the Slide Bar and adjust the peaks of your audio just get into the yellow every often as it looks in image #29 and #30. |
