Lumpy is my 7 1/2 year
old Desert Phase Banded California
King Snake (Lampropeltis
getulus californiae). I bought him in
Dayton, OH while I was attending the Dayton
Hamfest 7 years ago. Now approximately
44 inches long, he is shown below in his luxurious new
accommodation, a 20 GALLON-Long aquarium.
A VERY well-behaved fellow, despite the fact that I rarely
handle him, he never offered to strike when I picked him up and
carried him to his new home in December, 1999. Sophie thought he was
VERY interesting-but was not allowed too close an encounter (with
her absolutely driven appetite, you never know!)
