COUNTY ARES NA4SH Amateur Radio Emergency Service Nash County, North Carolina |
The
Nash County Amateur Radio Emergency Service is a volunteer
organization which serves the citizens of Nash County & Rocky
Mount, North Carolina by providing volunteer Amateur Radio
communication services to federal, state, county, and local government
agencies, as well as to non-profit organizations. The primary activity
of the Nash County ARES is to provide emergency communications during
disasters such as fires, floods, tornadoes, and hurricanes, when other
means of communications are not available or can be knocked out. The Nash County ARES staffs an amateur radio station, NA4SH, in the Nash County EOC and in the City of Rocky Mount EOC. In addition, the group installs and maintains the equipment and antennas for HF and VHF communications. Every Tuesday evening at 8:30 PM, the Northern Coastal Plain ARES net meets on the 146.805 mHz. W4DCG repeater and other local repeaters on 220 and 440 mHz. in the Rocky Mount and Nash County area. The Nash County Emergency Coordinator is Fred Winner, KE4LXW |
