My ham history.

I started to study to my first license in the summer of 1981. And in December 1981 I received my License with "D" and may 1984 i get the "C" (pasted teh CW-exam and now I was on HF). Now I'm the happy holder of the "A" equal to cept class "1".
The call sign granted was:
OZ1DGQ. (Sometimes a problem for me and other Hams) I do spel it like this:

"Oscar Zulu number one Delta Gulf Quebec"
OR
"Ontario Zeppelin number one Denmark Germany Quebec".

I have never been much into hanging around with the newspaper:

So the first time that call was used. Was from my parents house in the Square JO46LC in a town named Lind south of Herning. To see map press..

I Started on vhf with an Icom IC-2e. And was starting with my first project, a PA-amplifier to increase the RF from 2W too 15W. With the BLY88a and diode shift. I swapped my CB antenna with 5/8 for 2m.

I did make my first antenna for mobile use it was a 1/4 wave whip made of 5mm stainless steel. I bend it manually around a 6mm drill to fit the screw on the mobile mount.

After moving to Aalborg. I did buy and vhf all mode Icom 290e and 2 X 6elements yagis horizontal.

The most suthern position on the map is locator is JO47WL. From which i started to operate on HF. After passing the CW-test.

I bought a Used Icom 720A and a P1V antenna. That's a vertical GP about 6m high. The matching was made with 2 large coils. One inside the other. The inner coil could turn 360 degrees by the use of a rotor. That coil system was named tcs80. The first qso was made on 16/08/1984. As computer I used a Commodore C64 with a CW/RTTY/ASCII interface I used a Supperline MKIII. From this time of I was much more into the combination pc-ham-radio combination:

After moving to Brabrand i west off Aarhus.

Then I got to setup my radio-room in a small corridor. I swapped the 720a for a Kenwood TS440S in 1991. And the CommodoreC64 was swapped to a Commodore C128D, the interface was the same.

The superline MKIII and the TS440S placed on the Commodore 128D.
An my trusty green monochrome screen.

I still used the tcs80. But with different set-up. The antenna was placed on the balcony on the east side off my apartment. With 8m wire and the ground plain wires laid out on the floor. Later I used the TCS80 mainly with a triangular configuration off 3 turns of 6.6m.In total 19.8m where the turns was beside each other.

The view is toward NE. And the TCS80 is turned up-side-down.

I got my "private" room in 1994. This was on the west-side of the building. Therfore the antennas was moved to that side J.

On the 18/10/1996 the first qso with Alinco DX70 and SGC-230 tuner with 7m wire endfeed was made. Later the tuner was fitted with wires like a dipole. Made from 2pices of 7m wire. It has also been made with a small loop 4 turns of 7m total 28m.

This was the first way of placing the radios on my desk.

So as a consequens I was making some reorganising on my desk. During that the very small (abt. 14 weeks old) kitten named Mitzi joined in.

The bracket in front off Mitzi was made to elevate the DX70.
But she jumped in under the shelf, just before placing the dx70.

I was still trying to get some signals out on the lower bands at home. Therefor I made a very special very short antenna. It was made on a 2m long PVC drain pipe. On which I put 28m wire on spread more or less evenly between 3 coil sections. That antenna was used for the first time on the 23/03/2000. Later I made a small delta loop for the 6m band and hang in my window. Later I put got a 5/8 for 2m from Procom, some details:

Model: MLH 6/2-BZR and height 1,3m it is a shortened 1/4 at 6m, and 5/8lat 2m.

I was not satisfied with the performance off the 2m PVC-antenna with SGC230

In a German amateur magazine I saw something about T2FD antennas. I stared to use that on 23/4/2002. That summer I used it with only 50w from my caravan mounted on top off a 4,5m mast with 2*9m wires, like a inveted dipole. It was as oz1dgq/p from jo44jv.

I got my first Yaesu-rig: FT897d + fp30 + fc30 23/09/2003. A few weeks after the XYL asked me if i would like a second set,who will say no thanks to that.
On 6m the above mentioned Procom was used. On 2m and 70cm I used a another mobile whip. 1/4l on 2m and 5/8l on 70cm.

I wasn't the only one using those rigs:

Abt 16 weeks old and enjoying the heat from the FT897d.

Right:
Now 15months old and the text says it all!!

Later I mounted a 6m wire from those 2 antennas and to my other balcony outside my window, here I had a mobilmount placed. With that wire I could run 30m, 20m and 17m Yaesu ft897 + fp30 + fc30.

I December 2005 I suffered a failure in the mains power supply. That burned 1 of my ft897 and damage the power supply and the other set. The insurance took care of that. After some further problems with new ft897. I ran into a series with the power on failure as described by DG2IAQ. It happened after operating in contest. The FT897D becomes very HOT when using the internal powersupply.

But then I got new ft897d's and changed powersupply to the Alinco's DM-330mve. And on the terminal I put small blue voltage peak regulator. Shortend the DC-wires.

After some time I changed back to the Alinco DX70 radio now a TH-model. And since the 15. of May 2006 I have use the following set-up:

TX-RX :Alinco DX70th.
TUNER: LDG AT-200pro
Antenna is the above Short 1/4 lor the 6m wire. As with the ft897.
PWR sup:: Alinco DM-330MVE.
And for local vhf/uhf I use:
TX-RX: Alinco DR-635
PWR sup.: Alinco DM-330MVE.
Antennas the same as with the FT897.

All the radios and pc.

When I had the first Alinco DX70 I used a self made switch-box. And thereby I could operate on digi-modes. It had one cable to plug in the microphone. And to connections on the back. One for desktop microphone and the other for output from the PC-interface (also self made).

The rack and discriptions.

My selfmade "rack" with all off the rig.

Now due to the use off the lates verison of interface / switch-box it has been "clearner" design = less cables ( less RF-interferenc). And even space for a small box with a relay. making it possibel to switch the tuner input between to 2 outputs on the Alinco DX70th.

Now ONLY using a ID-51 (anniversary), DVAP and the Anytone AT-578II-plus, it makes the spaced needed on my desk a lot less :-).
