16PB6REM - SSB Year: 2006 Band: 20m Specifics: REM island. This platform was located 10 kilometers off Noordwijk in the North Sea between 1964 and September 2006. The REM island was used as an illegal radio and tv broadcast station in 1964. After that, it was used as a legal radio broadcast station (by TROS). Between 1974 and 2004 it was used as a measuring station (for measuring sea temperatures, hight of waves and salt concentration) by the Dutch government. And on the 8th of June, 2006 a mini DX expedition using the callsign PB6REM was active from the REM island for just that day. In 2011 the REM construction was finally relocated to the Amsterdam harbour, where it since then has been used as a restaurant
