This situation produces unexpectedly high MUF's (due to the very low angle of incidence) and the F2F2 mode (double-hop without any intermed- iate ground reflection and absorption losses). This path may be somewhat critical as either too much or too little ionization either end will cause an overshoot or undershoot of the other bulge. Future parts of this "mini series" on VHF F2 effects will consider the seasonal effects, magnetic storm influences, WWV forecasting, and transequatorial scatter (TE). It is hoped that this has (and will) been of use to those DXers only experienced in the Es and trop propagation forms. As always, direct comments are welcomed. 73, WA5IYX
