As has become our custom, the 1999 Annual Meeting was opened with a SETI song, led by our executive director. The camera crew seen here was filming a documentary for the United Paramount Network, scheduled to air in the US in May.

Optical SETI Committee chairman Dr. Stuart Kingsley stated that the major source of potential SETI League membership growth in the future would be the world's optical astronomy enthusiasts, once they learn how our Search can be conducted in the optical spectrum.
