NOW
To my Daughter
'if you happen to stumble upon this', I last saw you on January 21st 2008
when you were only 14. I have never seen
you since. You only have one Father. You were my only child. Remember...
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous,
it does not brag, and it is not proud. Love is not rude, is not
selfish, and does not become angry easily. Love does not
remember wrongs done against it. Love is not happy with evil,
but is happy with the truth. Love patiently accepts all things.
It always trusts, always hopes, and always continues strong.

-GAME OVER-
For everybody who indulges in alcohol/drugs. Remember you have
one life. Give it to Jesus the ultimate drug with no down side.

Truly an amazing and wonderful man, brave at
heart in the face of so many difficulties..You certainly have fought the good
fight, now rest
Don't shoot the wounded, they need us more than ever
They need our love no matter what it is they've done
Sometimes we just condemn them,
And don't take time to hear their story
Don't shoot the wounded, someday you might be one

A Little bit about us
We were
both born in Victoria Australia. I'm a 1960's child and Jacinta is a 1970's
child. I grew up in Menzies Creek and Jacinta in Kew. We both love cats and have
a fondness for the mountains. Our current QTH is 350 Metres above sea level,
which gives us a great take-off point for radio.
We met in Late 2003. Obviously I fell in love the minute I saw her.
I mean who wouldn't!
We had both gone through a lot of things in life and as a consequence were
struggling emotionally. This was a bond between us that grew as the days,
weeks, months, and obviously years went on.
We were married on May 1st 2004 in a little church that I used to go to Sunday
school to, when I was little. Our reception was at a restaurant where I used to play
guitar at."
Many things happened over the next few years, some great times, but also many
tragedies. As I look back on many of them I realise that all of that brought us
closer together.
As for radios. I first got a CB in 1991. It was a Uniden 640e Pro AM/SSB. I updated to a Uniden
UH-100 UHF in 1997, then to an AM-UHF UH-095sx combination in 2008 and then got into
Amateur radio in 2009. My better half's experience was in 1991 with a
27MHz unit in her friends garage. I guess there were lots of boys trying to talk
over each other to get a hold of this YL, but l prevailed some 13 years later.
:-)
We got our Standard Call at ARKS Academy in the Dandenong Ranges 4 months after
we got our Foundation licence.
100% pass rate I hear!
This is just a little story. As Life Goes On.

Menzies Creek residents Ian Gasson and his wife Jacinta say there is
life after alcoholism.
A MENZIES Creek man has warned
hills people of the dangers of over indulging with alcohol this Christmas. Ian
Gasson, a recovering alcoholic, says there is life without alcohol. As the
festive season approaches Mr Gasson has urged people to think seriously before
drinking to excess. He said that enjoying time with family and friends was
always more important than over indulging with alcohol. “In our Australian
culture, alcohol is widely misused especially during times of celebration like
Christmas and New Years Eve,” he said. “But let this Christmas be a time for
celebration, not regrets.” Mr Gasson said he first realised he had a problem
with drinking to excess in December last year.
For the past eight years Mr Gasson has been slowly sliding into alcoholism after
losing several close family members. In 1998 Mr Gasson’s father died and the
following year his sister died which had an impact on his downhill slide.
Following the death of his sister in 1999, Mr Gasson was again dealt a blow when
he had to give up his job as a computer technician and music teacher to care for
his mother who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2001. His mother died on
Christmas night in 2002 but six months later Mr Gasson dusted himself off and
was ready to return to work. Mr Gasson had decided to go back to school to
further his education but he soon found that he was unable to cope with either
work or study. He said over the years with all the tragedies that he had to face
his alcohol consumption increased steadily. But it wasn’t until December last
year did he realise that his drinking was out of hand. Mr Gasson was drinking up
to two casks of wine a week. “As many people in our culture do I turned to
alcohol for comfort,” he said.
Mr Gasson said it was on Friday 1 December 2006, that he was given a sign from
God that it was time to stop drinking. “I am not a religious person but it was a
God-like moment that made me realise what I was doing and stop drinking,” he
said. “I remember standing over the bin with an empty cask in my hand and it
came to me – I don’t need this any more and since then I haven’t touched a
drop.
” Mr Gasson said he went off the alcohol ‘cold turkey’ without any help
from any support groups – only his wife, Jacinta, was there to help him. Since
giving up alcohol Mr Gasson has lost more than 25 kilograms and is now back to
exercising three times a week and loving life. He now wants to spread the
message that there is life without alcohol and help others to realise that they
too can give it up.

Ian and his wife Jacinta say that Jesus Still Does Miracles
After battling an illness for
over a decade. Jacinta decided to take up regular exercise. Four years later she
lost about 20 kilos and is feeling and looking much better for it.
It has been a dedicated effort by a husband and wife team, between them losing
about 45 kilos. The photos of Jacinta and Ian above, show their remarkable
results. Praise God we have a lot more confidence now. And in a world of almost
constant bad news its good to see that a married couple still believe that...
