The Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol SA Inc - A Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) Association

There are six independently incorporated Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) Associations in South Australia.
With marine units strategically located throughout the State.
The SA Police coordinates marine search and rescue operations in South Australia.
The VMR Associations provide a 24 hour response to marine emergencies and assist police with search and rescue operations.

VMR Associations and the SASES operate a number of limited coastal listening stations around the State.
These stations provide a listening watch over marine radio frequencies, particularly the VHF network.

Volunteering with VMR
Volunteering with a VMR organisation is not all about being at sea. We have volunteer roles in radio operations,
logistics as well as search and rescue activities out on the water.

The Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol SA Inc is 100% volunteer.

We have some funding from Government which covers some vessels and vessel running costs but leaves us well short of the funding required to maintain the level of service to the boating public that we currently offer.

Our Members work hard to make up the short fall.

We are always very grateful for donations from the public and can assure donors that the money they generously give will be responsibly used to promote “Safety of Life at Sea.”

Our current rescue vessel at Point Turton was built in 1976, Please help us replace it.
