GENERAL

Locally and Federally, the Institute is in constant touch with
the Australian Communications Authority (ACA)
protecting and promoting the rights of amateurs.

Internationally the WIA is the recognized
spokesman for all Australian amateurs
and representatives attend regional meetings
of the IARU and of the World Radio Conferences,
where allocation of the whole frequency spectrum is decided.

This has paid dividends as shown by the acquistion of the 10, 18, 24MHz bands
and the retention of existing bands.
WIA representation played a major role in these successes.
Such work is on-going and entirely financed by members' subscriptions

DIVISIONAL MEETINGS

Meetings were held on the third Tuesday of each month at 8pm,
December meeting takes the form of a Christmas Dinner.
Council has decided to suspend
General meetings until further notice
due to the poor attendance at meetings.
The Division aimed to have a guest lecturer speak on an amateur radio topic
in addition to the business agenda. Visitors were welcome.

ON AIR NET

The purpose of the Net is to overcome the lack of member contact
since General Meetings
of the VK6 division were discontinued.

As with the General Meetings of the past,
visitors (non-members) are welcome to attend.

Usually on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 8pm
with the President in the chair (on the mike)
Call Sign VK6WIA 146.750 MHz Lesmurdie Repeater
and 80 Metre Gateway on 3.564 MHz controlled by Will VK6UU.

COUNCIL

The Divisional Council consists of
a President, Vice-President and seven other Councillors
all elected at the Annual General Meeting held in April each year.

In addition to the elected Council, the Secretary and Treasurer
may be appointed from outside of elected Council to serve as Co-opted members.
Other co-opted members may be appointed to fill specific roles.

All positions within the Division are voluntary.

Council meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month (possibly not January)
at the Country Women's Association Function Room,
3rd Floor, 1174 Hay Street, West Perth,
starting at 7.30pm.
Visitors are welcome.

WA QSL BUREAU

The VK6 QSL Bureau makes it possible for WIA members
to send and receive QSL cards from interstate and overseas.
While the bureau is slower than the regular postal service,
the money saved by sending your cards this way can be considerable,
particlarly if you are an active HF operator.

Members' incoming QSL cards
may be collected through the lodging of
suitably sized, Stamped Addressed Envelope's with the QSL Manager.
Outgoing cards may be sent to the Bureau.
All cards for routing outside of W.A. must have Bureau stickers.

Stickers/Coupons are obtainable from the Bureau at $7.50 per hundred.
Cards must be pre-sorted by country and callsign.
All correspondence to the QSL Manager.
Cards received for unfinancial persons are returned to the originating Bureau.
Note: Do Not Stick the Stickers, just send them in seperately.

ZONE 29 AWARD

The VK6 Division offers this Award
to radio amateurs making contact with 25 stations in zone 29.
