INTRUDER WATCH

Intruder Watch, an initiative of the WIA and its sister societies,
exists to rid our exclusive amateur bands of
unauthorised government and commercial transmitting stations.

These stations use our amateur bands contrary to international agreements.
Their presence reduces the amount of spectrum space available to radio amateurs.

Individual amateurs can assist by reporting any non-amateur transmissions
heard in our bands to the WIA Intruder Watch Officer.
Your reports are collated in an attempt to ascertain
the identity and location of the unauthorised station,
and then passed to the Spectrum Management Agency for action.

While Intruder Watching is a long term process,
it has had some recent successes in
removing interfering stations from the amateur bands.

The ability of Intruder Watch to defend amateur bands against incursions
depends on the quality and quantity of information it receives from radio amateurs
and short wave listeners; the more reports the better.

To receive further information on this important activity,
contact the W.A. Intruder Watch Officer.
