There have been some changes made to the rules for the ALARA Contest for 1999.

Please read through the rules before the Contest so you are familiar with the changes.

ELIGIBILITY:

All licensed operators throughout the world are invited to participate.
Also open SWLs.
OBJECT:
Participation: YLs work everyone; OMs and Clubs may work YLs only.
One contest (combined phone and CW) run over 24 hours.


STARTS: DATE & TIME:      Saturday, 13th November 1999 at 0001 hours UTC
ENDS:      DATE & TIME:      Saturday, 13th November 1999 at 2359 hours UTC

SUGGESTED FREQUENCIES:  Bands to be used are 3.5, 7, 14, 21, and 28 MHz only.

28.380 - 28.410 MHz
21.170 - 21.200 MHz
21.380 - 21.410 MHz
14.250 - 14.280 MHz
7.070 -   7.100 MHz
3.560 -   3.590 MHz
CW to be used within these limits.
OPERATION: PROCEDURE: EXCHANGES:
ALARA member:  RS or RS(T), serial number starting at 001, ALARA member, name.
YL non-member:} RS or RS(T), serial number starting at 001,  name and whether a
OM or Club        }                       Club station.
SCORE: LOGS:
Single log entry (but Australian YLs entering for the Florence McKenzie CW Trophy should indicate their CW score separately).

Logs must show date/time UTC, band, mode, callsign worked, report and serial number sent, report and serial number received, name of operator of station worked, whether it is a Club station, and points claimed.

FLORENCE McKENZIE TROPHY:
This will be awarded to the Australian YL operator with the highest CW score (not necessarily an ALARA member). Minimum score 50 points. The actual trophy, because of the size and weight, will not be forwarded to the winner, but a certificate bearing a photo depicting the trophy will be sent to the winner each year.
CERTIFICATES:
Will be awarded for the following:
    Top score overall
    Top score phone only
    Top score Australian YL CW (Florence McKenzie Cert.)
    Top score ALARA member in each country and VK call area
    Top score YL non-member in each continent
    Top score OM in each continent
    Top score SWL in each continent
    Top score VK novice
    Top score overseas YL CW
    Top score VK Club station

TROPHIES will be awarded to the following:
   Top scoring Australian YL
   Top scoring DX YL

CLUB STATIONS:
Operators of Club Stations may use the Club call only for contacts, and
MUST identify each contact as being with a Club station.
Use of personal callsigns whilst operating  as a Club member is not permitted.

The Florence McKenzie CW Trophy is now open to ALL VK YLs.
Contacts are now to be allowed with the SAME station
on the SAME band and in the SAME mode
so long as an interval of at least ONE HOUR elapses between the two contacts.
