well attended AGM and Conference of Clubs Held last Saturday.

*Subject: GST
A participant asked if our licenses were subject to GST and if so would this replace the spectrum access tax?
Tony took the question on notice and the Secretary is to ring the ACA.

It was reported that current renewal notices stated that after the 1st of July
there might be an invoice for part year GST.

There was also some general discussion on the GST and how it affected the Institute,
particularly the sale of books. It was noted that the book shop officer had stated that he
did not want to handle the old books after the 1st July due the GST and his business interests.

*Subject: Free Licence
A participant asked that as the Canadians now enjoy a free AR License,
is the WIA doing anything to get the same for Australia?
Others commented on the value of a free license - would the ACA still take any notice of the WIA?
It was also thought that we should wait and see how the Canadians got on.

Also why can't he pay by credit card for his license ?

The questions are to be referred to the ACA/WIA Liaison committee.

*Subject: Interference Reports
Someone asked if the SMA/WIA reported on the number of AR cases of interference,
this used to happen locally many years ago but no longer.
It was noted that a complaint of interference now required a fee of $80 for investigation
and this had decreased the number of complaints, also complaints would not be entertained
if the receiving equipment did not comply with current standards.

*Subject: AGM/Conference of Clubs
The number of participants was questioned,
the Secretary replied that 34 had signed the register, but that 35 had attended.

A vote of thanks to the Secretary (Christine) for the Venue arrangements and catering was carried.

*Subject: Silent Key
It was reported that Inga VK6OV (a YL) had become a silent key
and that the funeral was to be held on Thursday at Fremantle.

*Subject: Examination Invigilators
There was some discussion concerning the out of date list in the call book,
it was thought that a new list was to be compiled before the next issue.
It would probably be necessary for those interested to re-register.

*Subject: Divisional Constitution
It was noted that changes agreed at the AGM had to be ratified by the Ministry of Fair Trading
and that there would be a fee.

*Subject: QSL Bureau
The QSL Bureau Manager reminded listeners not to put the old bureau stickers onto cards
as this added to the weight/thickness and in any case quoted the old PO box number.

*Subject: Call Books
It was stated that there are still quite a few of the year 2000 Call books
available both through the bookshop in Hazelmere and also from the Secretary in Beckenham.

*Subject: Sunsat Satellite
It was reported that the satellite can be worked in WA at about 6pm local for the next 6 days.
A simple dipole will do. VK6TS had worked ZL.
Down Link is 145.825 MHz - Up Link is 436.291 allow 9KHz Doppler shift.

Net closed at 2100 hours.

Notes prepared by VK6LZ apologies for Errors and Omissions if any.
