VK6 Amateur of the Year 2002 - Clive Wallis VK6CSW

The Nomination
Hello VK6WIA Committee,
I would like to put forward a nomination for the VK6 Amateur of the Year 2002.

I would like to nominate Clive Wallis, VK6CSW for his outstanding
work, dedication and committment to the hobby.

I have known Clive for the past 6 or 7 years, primarily through the WA Repeater Group.
Clive is always around to volunteer his services and knowledge no matter what the cause is.

Some other of his activities that are worthy of mention are
(Some of the dates may need checking):

* President of the WA Repeater Group for the past 3 years.
Clive chairs the meetings and originates lively discussions at the meetings.
Clive has also held a number of other positions on the WA Repeater
Group Committee over the 6 or 7 years I have been involved.

* WA Repeater Group Sunday Morning 'Net Controller' for the past 5 or 6 years,
Clive has religiously given up almost every Sunday morning to run the Net.

* Superb effort in arranging the displays for WA Repeater Group at
Hamfest over the last 4 or 5 years that I have been involved.

* Clive can always be counted on to volunteer his time and services
for any WA Repeater Group site maintenance/repair visits,
no matter where the sites are. (Cataby, Mt Saddleback, Tic Hill)

* 10M FM WIA News Callback Operator for the last 2 or 3 years.

* RAOTC Broadcast relay/callback operator. Clive also started the ball rolling
with the relay onto the 2M/70CM linked repeater network by developing
his own interface to link the broadcast from 20M into the local network.

* Active member of the Hills Amateur Radio Group.  Clive is regularly
heard doing the job of an informal Net Controller on this sked as well.
Also a regular attendee at their monthly meetings.

* Clive has also undertaken a number of important projects for the WA Repeater Group,
including the Tait T496 modification project, CTCSS encoder/decoder project,
VK6RUF Roleystone to VK6RMS Mt Saddleback repeater linking project.

* Conducts repairs & maintenance on the VK6RCW, 2M morse beacon,
& local packet radio systems to ensure reliable 24/7 operation.

If you require any further information or references, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Regards, Nominator / Seconded.

VK6 Council have received a letter from Clive, I will get a copy to reproduce here.
