Liason Frequency 145.500 MHz
Group net frequency 146.750 MHz Monday evenings 8PM
Amateur Television Repeater VK6RTV, licensed to the Perth ATV Group,
was operating on test from a site about
300m above
the coastal plain at Greenmount, East of Perth.
We are looking for a new site
- do you know of a good site ?
The repeater transmits on 444.25 Vision, 449.75 MHz sound,
with an erp of about 50 Watts directed in an arc from about
195 degrees True to 285 degrees True from Greenmount.
Test pattern as received at Don's (VK6HK) home at a distance of
25 KM from VK6RTV.
Note the blocky effect on the picture is due to the
JPG file compression and not the television transmission.
Display screen of DTMF codes to send to VK6RTV on 145.5 MHz
for control and selection of modes of operation of VK6RTV.
Receive modes (selected by DTMF command on 145.5 MHz) are:
1. 426.25 MHz Vision/431.75 Sound with AM Vision, FM sound.
DTMF #1#
2. 1250.0 MHz Vision, FM Vision with 6MHz FM sound subcarrier.
DTMF #2#
3. 1242.25 MHz Vision/1247.75 Sound with AM Vision, FM sound.
DTMF #5#
The temporary antennas, both receive and transmit,
are at present only low gain,
so unless a good path is available to Greenmount,
retransmitted pictures may be noisy.
The repeater test pattern
however has produced good picture quality in the target area,
providing a purpose built 444 Mhz antenna and preamp are used.
Many domestic TV and VCR tuners will tune down to
the 443-450 MHz channel in use for the repeater output.
Don't expect much from the
existing domestic TV antenna and "barefoot" receiver, though!
Transmission of DTMF code #1#, #2# or #5# on 145.5 MHz
activates the test pattern,
which then alternates with a menu
of other commands for 10 minutes,
unless there is a vision signal on the selected input.
If vision is detected on the input frequency,
then this transmission is relayed by the repeater.
Vision ident occurs every 10 minutes during a session
and a timeout(signaled on vision)
occurs after 60 minutes of uninterrupted use.
Voice liaison during a session is carried out on 145.5 Mhz simplex.
For those needing a signal to set up receiving gear,
Test Pattern only is regularly available
from 1130 UCT to 1200 UCT on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Unscheduled operation can occur at any other time on demand.
