Minutes of the December general meeting were read by Cliff VK6LZ and accepted by Peter VK6HAO, seconded by Dennis VK6LD.

1. Business arising from the previous minutes

1.1 Cable/antenna problems persist with the VK6RUF site.     Working bee suggested for the weekend of March 31/April 1 to inspect/replace the cable and/or antenna at the site.

1.2 Gnangara digital link is not being used, Peter VK6HAO to liase with WAADCA to determine if any possible use of the equipment at the site is planned.

3. Treasurer’s report

3.1 Bank statement dated 22/12/00 shows a balance of  $3,375.82.

3.2 Received a donation of $20 from the UHF Association of WA.

3.3 Payment of $172 to Rob VK6TRC for Diamond antenna for VK6RUF or VK6RMW site as required.     Proposed by Clive VK6CSW passed by Cliff VK6LZ.

3.4 Received membership and donation from VK6TE Ed and VK6AMY Gwyn.

3.5 The treasurer reported a total current balance of $3340.82.

3.6 Treasurer’s report accepted by Peter VK6HAO and seconded by VK6LD.

4. Membership officer report.

New members:

Received a membership application and a donation from VK6TE Ed and VK6AMY Gwyn.
Proposed by Cliff VK6LZ seconded by Rob VK6TRC and passed.
Ed and Gwyn are warmly welcomed to the group.

6. Net controller’s report

Still going but more on-air participation is requested.

7. Repeater manager’s report

7.1 VK6RVP Vic Park repeater back on-air, audio level seems to be slightly high. ‘False triggering’ is reported which the commercial UHF repeater at the site seems to be causing. Rob VK6TRC to investigate.

7.2 Audio problems (“thumping”) with VK6RTH on 2 metres still occurring, affecting the 2 metre repeater but not 70cms.

8. Bulletin board – VK6BBR

Dennis VK6LD reports that packet usage in general has dropped considerably compared to a few years ago. VK6BBR itself is operating normally.

9. General business

9.1 Gavin VK6HGR offered to perform the role of WARG Secretary.
Accepted unanimously by the meeting.

9.2 A ‘frying-egg’ noise reported to have been heard intermittently on the VK6RMW Mt William repeater. Further investigation is required.

9.3 The VK6RCT Cataby repeater is still working and the repeater mast seems to be in good order from a ‘drive-by’ sighting, although its link to VK6RUF is still down.

9.4 Cliff VK6LZ reports Brian VK6YET has not yet received a reply to his email regarding a spare 2 metre negative offset repeater frequency, WARG has suggested a possible frequency and the WIA will be advising VK6YET.

9.5 A new 10 metre repeater. VK6YAG Tony and VK6YJS Jay are in the process of building a 10 metre repeater. Radios have been obtained for 10 metres and the UHF link between the two required sites.

9.6 A vote of thanks goes to Rob VK6TRC for his efforts in the installation of the new antenna on the UHF association of WA’s CB repeater and the subsequent donation to WARG. Passed unanimously.

9.7 Alan VK6BN is continuing with the iphone Internet linking and is reporting good local participation. The VK6RTH 2 metre repeater seems to drift in frequency +- 5 Khz occasionally during the link. A change to the VK6RFM Fremantle repeater was suggested as an alternative repeater.

9.8 An Australia-day VK-wide Internet repeater link is being conducted, Alan VK6BN will send Clive VK6CSW details of the event for broadcast as they come to hand.

9.9 The next WIA meeting is on Saturday the 7th of April at TWA house from 10am.

10. The next WARG meeting will be at 19.30 hours on February 5th 2001.
